Privacy Policy
What ClickBus collects when you search for, book or travel on a journey sold through our platform, why we hold it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do with it.
01 This policy and who controls your data
This policy explains what personal data ClickBus collects when you search for, book or travel on a journey sold through our platform, why we hold it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do with it.
ClickBus is a brand of EZ-Pass Tunisia and is represented and marketed in Libya by the company "ASFAR al-Huroj".
For the data described here we are the controller: we decide what is collected and why. Where an operator carrying you goes on to use your details for its own purposes, beyond performing the journey, it is a controller in its own right and its own policy applies to that use.
02 ClickBus's role, intermediation and responsibilities
The following conditions define the nature of our service:
- Commercial intermediary: ClickBus acts exclusively as an intermediary and only offers a commercial matchmaking and ticketing service.
- Managed by operators: all information relating to trips (routes, schedules, etc.) is managed directly and exclusively by the approved operators, their administrations, and their teams.
- Transmission of information: we merely provide travellers with the travel information that the operators transmit to us.
- No liability for trips: ClickBus is in no way responsible for delays, trip cancellations, or the non-existence of a scheduled trip.
- Legislation and conditions: the entire service, bookings, and trips are strictly subject to the rules and conditions of Libyan legislation, as well as the travel conditions of the approved operators.
03 What this policy covers
It covers all platforms we run under the ClickBus name (website, mobile application, physical points of sale, and our support channels). It does not cover what happens after you click an external link (an operator's site, a payment page, a social network).
04 Exclusive payments in Libyan Dinars (LYD)
All payments on the platform and at points of sale are made exclusively in Libyan Dinars (LYD). No other payment method or currency is accepted.
05 What we collect
We only collect what a journey and an account strictly need.
What we hold, by category
- Identity
- Name, date of birth, and ID or passport details if the trip requires them
- Contact
- Phone number and email address
- Account
- Sign-in method, language, saved passengers, notification settings
- Booking
- Journeys searched and booked, seats, tickets, cancellations, wallet balance
- Device
- Device type, app version, IP address, crash reports, and, with your consent, approximate location
Identity-document details are collected if the journey requires it (e.g. at borders). Once you register, we save this information in your account to facilitate your future bookings.
06 Where it comes from
Personal data reaches us from four sources.
- Directly from you (account creation, payment in LYD, support).
- From your device (automatically during use).
- From an operator or a point of sale.
- From our payment partners (transaction outcome).
07 Why we use it
Every use is tied to a lawful basis, and the table says which.
Why we use it, and on what basis
- Selling and issuing your ticket, managing your account, and passing passenger details to the operator carrying you Contract
- Preventing fraud and abuse of fares or refunds Legitimate interest
- Finding sales points near you, and measuring service usage Consent
- Keeping the records required by Libyan commercial and tax law Legal obligation
Where the basis is consent, refusing costs you nothing else — booking, payment, tickets and tracking work exactly as before.
We do not make decisions about you by automated means alone, and we do not profile you for advertising.
09 The services that process data for us
Some services run on third-party infrastructure (Google Firebase, Google Analytics, routing map providers) which process data according to our instructions. Analytics services are only activated with your explicit consent.
10 Data transfers
Since ClickBus is a brand of EZ-Pass Tunisia operated in Libya by ASFAR al-Huroj, some data may transit through infrastructure hosted abroad (for authentication, notifications, or mapping). These transfers are protected contractually.
11 Cookies, location and analytics
Access to your location (to find points of sale) and analytics tools require your explicit consent via a banner on your first visit. You can withdraw this consent at any time without it affecting your bookings.
12 How long we keep it
We keep each kind of data only as long as it has a reason to exist.
How long we keep it
- Bookings, tickets and payments
- As long as Libyan commercial and tax law requires
- Your account
- While it is open; deleted when you close it
- Identity-document details
- Kept in your profile as long as your account is active
- Analytics data
- 14 months
- Support data
- 24 months
When a period ends the data is deleted, or irreversibly anonymised where we still need the count but not the person.
13 Your rights
You can contact us to request: access to your data, its rectification, its deletion, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, to withdraw your consent, or to request the portability of your booking history.
What you can ask for
- Access A copy of the data we hold about you.
- Rectification Correction of data that is wrong or out of date.
- Deletion Erasure of your data.
- Objection An end to processing based on our legitimate interest.
- Withdrawal Consent for location or analytics taken back, at any time.
- Portability Your booking history in a portable format.
14 Children
The service is not intended for children, and creating an account requires you to be at least 18 years old. When an adult books for a minor, the child's data is used only by the operator to perform the journey, under the same retention rules.
15 Service messages and marketing
Service messages (confirmations, operator cancellations, reminders) are mandatory as long as a booking is active. Marketing messages are optional and require your prior opt-in.
16 Applicable law, modifications and complaints
All our operations, bookings, and conditions are strictly governed by Libyan legislation.
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the law or the service. If you are dissatisfied with how we handle your data or the commercial service provided by ClickBus, please contact us first. Complaints concerning the actual execution of the trips (delays, cancellations) must be addressed directly to the approved operators responsible for these services.
